1 x Black Earth – cable – Winch to battery
1 x Cable assembly – JEEP Aux – ISOLATOR (+)
1 x Cable Assembly – Vehicle Battery – Isolator (-)
5x Cable Ties
This winch wiring kit gives you everything you need to connect up your winch to your battery including the Albright isolator and the cables to connect the isolator to either Aux 3 or Aux 4 channel so you do not have to run any cables into your cab though the firewall.
The positive and negative cables in this kit are made from 50mm square cable. We recommend using 50mm2 cable as a minimum with high performance single motor winches. As an example our Ox motor can draw up to 400amp on a very hard pull. Using smaller cable than 50mm2 will act as a resistor and the voltage at the motor will be less than at the batteries. Voltage drop will lead to a increase in the amps. This is not be good for any winch motor and can result in thermal damage.
The 2 longer cables that run down though the engine bay and connect to he winch are individually wrapped in high performance conduit to prevent chafing damage on the cables.
Notes for fitting:
The short orange lead goes from the battery to the winch isolator.
The long orange lead goes from the isolator to the winch motor solenoid.
The negative lead is just as important as the positive lead. DO NOT earth a winch through the chassis. Instead we recommend running the negative lead from the earth point on the winch motor directly back to the negative terminal on the vehicle battery.
The best position we have found for the isolator is on top of the fuse box which keeps the cable length between the battery and the isolator to a minimum.
